One potential secure future job? PLC repair & service (programmable logic controllers) - these are the generic controls that direct all robotics in manufacturing. Siemens, ABB, Honeywell, Rockwell. Requires both hands on repairs (tactical), basic electrical & mechanical skills combined with electronics and software. When these automated factory's have a problem, who fixes it? They do. They will never lose their jobs, or at least, until robots can do nearly everything.
Nitrogen, oxygen and argon are separated by ASUs (air separation units) that are fully automated. One remote operator oversees multiple plants in various parts of the country and there are just a couple local techs. One program LMPC (linear model predictive controller), along with hysteresis, will augment flowrates, pressures and temperatures settings to maintain the desired specification of the end product (liquid nitrogen, oxygen, argon). While the goal is to keep the plant 'fat, dumb and happy' occasionally a hiccup will occur and shut it all down. No autonomous machine is going to keep these plants running or do periodic maintenance any time soon, only competent people.
I've been following Henrik for some years now. Like David Hunter he's not wrong, just early. But then, so many have been so early since the GFC starting in at least 2013 (outcries I heard then). Better early because there may not be the proverbial "late than never" option (the Mike Maloney unavailium and unobtanium, given relatively low and limited supplies for both Au and Ag).
I’m really enjoying the variety of guests you are interviewing. Henrik had an interesting perspective on the US financial system/status that I haven’t heard from American financial analysts. I agree with him on bitcoin tanking - I never understood the value in something that quantum computing will make useless - blockchain is worthless when quantum computers can crack it easily.
